SA National Gallery New Exhibition : Brave New World : 20 Years Of Democracy

500+ people came to the opening of this magnificent exhibition at the South African Iziko National Gallery (ISANG). Curated by fine artist, Ernestine White & Andrea Lewis. 7 massive rooms of art, beautifully displayed. The place was packed with a good demographic mix. The evening ‘First Thursday of the month’ art walkabout in Cape Town has really caught on. I’d say, thanks to word of social media!

“The exhibition commemorates this major milestone through a selection of works from ISANG’s Permanent Collection, acquired between 1994 and 2014…
The exhibition consists of a broad range of artistic disciplines, placed in conversation with one another to offer multilayered insights into South Africa’s past and present. They serve as an important gauge to assess whether we are upholding the principles of democracy and the Constitution of this country.”  – ISANG

Ubuntu “…literally, “human-ness”, roughly translating to “human kindness.” It is an idea … often translated as “humanity towards others, ” but is often used in a more philosophical sense to mean “the belief in a universal bond of sharing, that connects all humanity”  – Wikipedia
