●Hiroshima: Today 70 years ago 146 thousand were wiped out by an atom bomb

06Aug08

On Monday, August 6, 1945, the nuclear[?][atom bomb]weapon Little Boy was dropped on Hiroshima by the crew of the American B-29 bomber Enola Gay, directly killing an estimated 80,000 people. By the end of the year, injury and radiation brought total casualties to 90,000 – 140,000. Approximately 69% of the city’s buildings were completely destroyed, and 6.6% severely damaged……

2008 – Global Nuclear Weapons stats.

Globally around 30,000 nuclear weapons are held by various countries. More than one thousand five hundred of them ready to launch at a moment’s notice, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. On average, each of them has a destructive power thirty times that of the Hiroshima bomb. Through atmospheric effects, a few hundred could destroy a major part of the world.

There seems to be an eyrie silence about the number of nuclear arms we have and how we are not safe until they are all dismantled.

Today there are no atom bombs – they are puny compared to what we have to day.
1 Atom bomb deaths = 80,000 [eighty thousand]
1 Nuclear bomb deaths = 2,400,000 [two million four hundred thousand]
and of course we mustn’t forget those nuclear bombs that have been designed not to destroy buildings – only the living – I forget what they are called

It is vital that we keep demanding nuclear disarmament – keep it on the political radar screen and make sure everyone and also our children know the threat & the horrors of nuclear destruction and fall out.

The focus seems to be on stopping Iran building one – when no one speaks of how many there are already and what they do if they are used

NO COUNTRY SHOULD HAVE ANY NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

ALL COUNTRIES MUST BE NUCLEAR WEAPONS FREE!

Radiation Sickness – The Symptoms
If you haven’t been instantly over cooked [incinerated] from the heat of the blast or blinded from the flash or had all the air sucked out of you – these are the things you will experience.

All the terra? billions of dust particles blasted into the air will now also be contaminated – it will be sucked up into the statospere and dispersed nicely all over the planet cutting out the light which will affect the plants ability to photosynthesise let alone the fact that the radiation is drawn up into the plant from the fall out dust cloud/particles soaked into the soil – in a nut shell ….it’s bad news for all of us no matter where we are!

The closer you are to ground 0 – the quicker you will get these symptoms – oh, there is no cure!

Radiation Symptoms:

.Nausea and vomiting
.Diarrhoea
.Skin burns (redness, blistering )
.Weakness, fatigue, exhaustion, fainting
.Dehydration
.Inflammation of exposed areas (redness, tenderness, swelling, bleeding)
.Hair loss
.Ulceration of the oral mucosa
.Ulceration of the oesophagus, stomach or intestines
.Vomiting blood
.Bloody stool
.Bleeding from the nose , mouth, gums, and rectum
.Bruising
.Sloughing of skin
.Open sores on the skin

Your doctor will advise you how best to treat these symptoms. He [or she] may prescribe medications to help reduce nausea, vomiting and pain. He [or she]  may prescribe blood transfusions for anaemia or antibiotics to prevent or fight infections.

I was very disappointed in the Hiroshima museums site – NO photos of the bombs effects on the city! Very strange – could be cultural? down playing it – why? It did have the peace declaration speech from the mayors since 2001[?] [found in google search – Hiroshima museum bomb]

Please update your information. The stats you have for number of nuclear weapons in the US is 9000 and is actually 5000. You list 16000 for Russia but the correct number is 8000. You also say 10 for N. Korea when the number is unknown although estimated between 0-20. Your stats on China say 145 when the number is also unknown but estimated to be 100-400. You also extremely exaggerate the amount and effect of the fallout resulting from the use of nuclear weapons. A significant portion of your terminology is incorrect. Atom bombs and Nuclear bombs are the same thing, most people mistake them for nuclear weapons (fission) and thermonuclear(fusion) weapons. To cause the amount of fallout to cause problems in photosynthesis to the extreme you describe would take a global thermonuclear war between the major nuclear superpowers. The major superpowers are not going to do this anytime soon because of the concept of mutually assured destruction, therefore there is currently no significant threat except from places such as N. Korea which don’t have the ability to create a war as large as is required to produce the effects you are terrifying people with. Radiation sickness can be cured. Please stop terrifying people with your opinion-based non-factual highly incorrect views. If you also believe Greenpeace is a good organization, think again. They have protested outside Vandenberg AFB trying to stop them from testing a missile defense system. They also placed a boat offshore where part of the missile was expected to land in the water. These sound like very immature things to do, protesting against the people protecting them from countries and people who would prefer that we did not exist. Once again, please stop misleading and terrifying people with your non-factual opinions and misleading stats and lies about the effects of using nuclear weapons.

Having Nuclear weapons is kind of like having sex. Once you do it there is no going back to being a virgin. They will exist until the next generation of weapons come along.

your so stupid you think everyone will just give up their warheads? No because no your not even worth it just go cry and protest
