●REED BRODY – HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST – AN AMAZING MAN
I heard Reed Brody being interviewed on BBC World radio last week – what an amazing man. I feel such gratitude to him for the work he is doing to stop these pathetic, insane, little men [are there any women?] despots from getting away with their atrocities.
“ “If you kill one person, you go to jail. If you kill 40 people, they put you in an insane asylum. But if you kill 40, 000 people, you get a comfortable exile with a bank account in another country and that’s what we want to change here,”

Sorry all links no longer valid – video and his website no longer exist
Have revisited this post to copy links of the video, to promote Reed Brody, on Facebook & twitter [2 years & 8 months after its posting date]
Discovered that all links to the video clip & website are broken/removed – if I do not get a current URL for this video clip from his office in Brussels, I will remove this post as it no longer has active links]
His PR people are idjiots!
How to further his cause and support? By hearing what he has to say! And making him visible in cyber space – No twitter! No facebook! And his office is in Brussels the capital of Europe! WAKE UP Human Rights Watch!
……..In The Dictator Hunter, we follow Brody over the course of two suspenseful years as he travels through Africa, Europe and the United States. He conducts diplomacy like the chess games he plays with his son. But in his work, the chess pieces are politicians, journalists and judges that Brody positions against his opponent. The Dictator Hunter shows what it takes for one man to break the cycle of impunity…”

Along the same theme with Brody’s work – here’s a wonderful book I read years ago by Ariel Dorfman – Heading South, Looking North. Brilliantly written autobiography – he is a major human rights activist, academic, novelist, playwright and essayist.”
– I recall him saying that the tyranny of a dictatorship has to be confronted and stopped by having a plan of action in place to stop it in it’s tracks.
It is a global issue not one of nations and internal politics ie. not to interfere – we MUST interfere as it is people like us that are being brutalised.
TYRANNY IS UNACCEPTABLE ANYWHERE.
Our track record of the past catastrophes of genocide and ethnic cleansing is abysmal.
We have failed to stop atrocities, such as the genocide in Ruanda and Sudan . We have no effective response in place to stop it. It is a global issue which concerns us all and therefore where ever it happens we have to have a plan of action that kicks in to deal with it immediately.
I wonder if hell will freeze over first?
Other info on Ariel Dorfman
“Ariel Dorfman (born May 6, 1942 Buenos Aires) is a Chilean novelist, playwright, essayist, academic and human rights activist.”
….Dorfman’s work often deals with the horrors of tyranny and in later works, the trials of exile…
“…..But, says Dorfman, modernization has come at a price. Like other survivors of the dictatorship, he deplored the government’s long silence on the crimes of the dictatorship following the restoration of democracy and warned leaders of the perils of a “collective forgetting.””
Heading South, Looking North: A Bilingual Journey (1999) ISBN 0-14-028253-X
“Dorfman’s views on political oppression, the missing and Latin America caused him many trials and tribulations, but in the end they helped him become a significant, acclaimed writer of the 20th century.”
Civil Rights/Human Rights By Ariel Dorfman, [An Essay] May 8, 2004, 14:29
“…..Are there times when we have to accept torture? — Every regime that commits this crime does so in the name of salvation…”
“Telling The Truth Through Lies
Ariel Dorfman talks about the role of art in times of war and what it will take to create a viable peace movement.”
